ENV221H1: Multidisciplinary Perspectives on EnvironmentÂ
testimonials
By ChemEng 2T6 + PEY
Difficulty: 6/10
Professor: Karen Ing
Session Taken: Fall 2024
"The course is structured in 2 parts.
Part 1 touches on 4 major perspectives on environmental issues (science, ethics, policy, and economics) which can each have different effects on decision-making for these issues. They ask 3 questions: (1) What are the disciplinary contributions to the study of the environment? (2) How does this discipline approach the study of environmental issues? (3) What questions do they ask?
Part 2 dives into case studies where you'll analyze them through those 4 perspectives. In my year, it was climate change and environmental health.
There's a midterm, final, tutorial participation (a few times per semester), and two papers to write. Otherwise, it's not a lot of work but the midterms are extremely memorization-heavy."
