Difficulty: 5/10
Professor: Keith Stewart
Session Taken: Fall 2024
The alternative course to APS305 for the Sustainable Energy Minor. This course is usually offered only in the fall. There is no tutorial for this course, just a 2-hour lecture. Most of this course is essay writing.
The essays are mostly based on current environmental issues. For example, the major paper for our semester (40% of final grade) was on the political response to the recent proposal of the Federal Government's Cap-and-Trade policies for reducing oil and gas emissions.
There is no midterm, but there is still a final exam. This is a really easy course if you enjoy writing, and the content is very easy to keep up with. There are weekly readings, but they're not mandatory. Simply going over lecture slides and skimming key readings will be enough to get a decent mark in this course. However, as with many writing courses, an excellent grade (90%+) is very difficult to achieve. Prof. Stewart is also really generous with giving extensions for assignments. The late policy is also very generous at -2.5%/day late.
